![]() (5) In an actual run when fighting a single target like a boss, you will likely not be constantly attacking. (4) Doom is flat damage, which scales with global damage bonuses like High Confidence or Rush Delivery, unlike the +% boons like Heartbreak Strike which are unaffected. For example, the first two poms on Curse of Agony add 40.5 DPS while the same two poms on Heartbreak Strike would add only 30.7 DPS. Already, Curse of Agony isn't at the top but pretty high up. That's for single-target DPS when constantly attacking at Lv.1. That gives us the following single-target DPS values at Lv.1 (assuming 5 stacks for Hangover): At 4.75 attacks per second, that's a base DPS of 90.25. That's 95 damage for a full rotation of 5 hits, which is an average of 19 damage per hit. Malphon DPS rotation with 2 dashes includes 2 Dash-Attacks for 25 damage per hit and 3 normal Attacks for 15 damage per hit. That means you're getting a Doom proc every 1.26 seconds on a single target when attacking without pause. (2) Some of my numbers from early access (when Zag Fists still had +15% Attack speed for the very first hit, but it doesn't matter for the comparison):Ĥ.75 attacks per second with Zag Aspect Malphon and 2 dashes. (1) With Gods' Pride, there's a 41.5% chance that the Attack boon will be rare or better, so only looking at common values, which Doom is notoriously poor at compared to its higher rarities, doesn't provide an accurate picture. (High Heat Malphon tends to pivot into other builds around 50+ish because of AP2.) The proof is always in the results, first and foremost. That's been consistently demonstrated in speedruns and high heat since early access. The strongest build on all Malphon aspects is Merciful End with Curse of Agony on Attack, Divine Flourish to unlock Merciful End, and then Divine Dash to proc Merciful End + Impending Doom for even better damage. In my eyes, ares' appeal is in the rift blades as those have much better synergies, thus damage potential.Īnyhow, I'm open to being wrong and I'm hoping your explanation can show me an angle I'm not considering! I'm not an expert by any means but, considering all of the above, I really don't see how curse of agony is best in slot for malphon (or any other weapon in the game, tbh). Poseidon legendary adds a secondary pushback effect per impact (that can trigger all barrier impact buffs mentioned above.) zeus legendary triggers a secondary bolt per impact Both gods have legendary boons which directly affect their respective boons and benefit fast attacks: * Poseidon, besides already giving an attack damage buff initially, can: add the rupture status (base damage of 15 per 0.2 seconds / 75 dps), a huge % damage increase (in the hundreds) to barrier impacts as well as make those impacts explosive. * Zeus can: add Jolted effect and increase the number of bounces between enemies. Both gods have boons which buff AND add effects, all which can be further upgraded w/poms: both can affect more than 1 enemy per hit. ![]() Neither has delay and trigger their effects on hit If we compare it to poseidon or Zeus (which I consider to be the best for that specific slot) Dire Misfortune is the only one that fits the fast attacks but: Impending doom offers a nice % buff but makes the delay even longer at 1.6 secs (more hits without effect) Of the ones that are not dependent on other gods: In terms of synergies with other boons, theres only 4 other boons that affect it, and 2 of those are dependent on other gods (duos = less likely to get them in a run). So, after the initial hit, you are hitting without triggering any bonus damage or effect. Doom effect has a 1.1 sec delay, has a base dmg of 50 and affects only the enemy you hit. I'd really appreciate if you could explain your reasoning for saying that boon is best in slot, perhaps there's an angle that I'm not considering.
